Rio Celeste

The Celeste River is a river in Costa Rica, located in the province of Alajuela, within the Tenorio Volcano National Park, in the Arenal-Tempisque Conservation Area. It is formed by the confluence of the rivers Buena Vista and Quebrada Agria at the foot of the Tenorio volcano. Due to its particular coloration, result of an optical effect produced by the dispersion of sunlight due to the high concentration of aluminum silicates that have its waters,1 is a major national and international tourist destination in this Central American country.

Arenal Volcano

The Arenal volcano has had several names throughout history. Some of the legends of the indigenous Maleku, who inhabit the plains in their shadow, tell us that inside it lived the god of fire.1 Its oldest recorded name is Los Ahogados (1852), but it has also been called Volcano of Costa Rica (1854), volcano of the Rio Frío (1861), Arenal hill, Sugar Loaf hill (1896), Canastes volcano or Pelon volcano (1925).
It is cited as Arenal volcano since 1922, this because its lavas undergo disintegration by physical-chemical effects, forming lithic and crystalline sands that are deposited on the slopes of the cone, giving it the appearance of a mound of sand.

The whale tail is visible in low tides, as well as coral reefs and mangroves. This place offers a lot to enjoy and fall in love with its natural beauty.

   Poas Volcano

The Poás Volcano National Park was established in 1955 with an approximate territorial extension of 1200 ha. With the ratification of 1970 and subsequent extension of its territory, the park reached 6506 ha.
The area was called botos by the Spaniards, referring to a group of indigenous people who populated the foothills north of the volcano. The term Poás may be derived from the Latin name “púas” due to the presence of some plants with spikes in the area or the existence of a village called “Púas” located near the massif.
The Poás Volcano has a history of eruptions where the 1910 one stands out, which consisted in an immense ash cloud that rose to about 8000 m. This National Park is one of the most important natural attractions for national and international tourism.
